Lincoln Square
The Lincoln Square flower beds in the center of Lincoln Square in downtown Gettysburg display a patriotic red, white and blue theme. The beds are planted and maintained by over three-dozen Club members from May through October each year. Partners in the project are a local nursery and the Borough of Gettysburg. Funds for the project are raised through our Spring Perennial Plant Sale and our Christmas Greens and Gourmet Gift Sale. The project received the Community Greening Award in 2007 and 2010 from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

Downtown Flower Project
Since 2008 the Club has managed this project consisting of the eight planters in the square and hanging baskets along the first blocks of four adjacent streets which continue the patriotic color scheme of Lincoln Square. Partners in the project are Musselman Greenhouses and the Borough of Gettysburg. Funds for the project are raised through private donations and the Club’s participation in the Adams County Community Foundation’s “Giving Spree” held each November.

Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded annually to high school and college students residing in Adams County who are pursuing higher education in the fields of horticulture, landscape design, forestry, conservation or similar areas of study. Proceeds from the Club’s Spring Perennial Plant and the Christmas sales fund the scholarships.

Gettysburg Fire Department Planters
In recognition of our host partners, the Gettysburg Fire Department, the planters surrounding the entrances to the Fire Station are planted and maintained throughout the year by Garden Club members.

Blue Star Memorial Project
In 2013, the Gettysburg Garden Club installed and dedicated two Blue Star Markers to honor those who have, are, and will serve in our Nation’s Armed Forces. Markers were placed in the Veteran’s Section of Evergreen Cemetery and at the Adams County Courthouse. Club members raised funds for the markers and members continue to monitor the gardens.

Habitat for Humanity
Gettysburg Garden Club is proud to partner with our local Habitat for Humanity chapter, contributing to its mission of providing affordable housing nationally. Our collaboration involves financing landscape designs, along with the selection and installation of plants, to create welcoming front door garden spaces for recipients.

Annual Perennial Plant Sale
Each year during spring, Club members separate and replant their perennials to sell at our annual Perennial Plant Sale held the third Saturday in May at the Gettysburg Fire Department. Proceeds from this sale support student scholarships, the Lincoln Square Gardens and the planters at the Gettysburg Fire Department (GFD).

Christmas Greens and Gourmet Gift Sale
Members spend the first week of December creating beautiful Christmas mixed green wreaths, arrangements, swags, table top trees and decorated apples for this sale held annually the first Saturday in December at the Gettysburg Fire Department Community Room. Our Gourmet Gifts include an array of freshly baked holiday cookies, candies, jams, relishes, and assorted goodies, all made by our members. Proceeds from the sale are used to beautify the Lincoln Square flower gardens and student scholarships.
